A new business is being brought to Bournemouth by a mother of two who aims to build the confidence of her students in a more personal, one-to-one way than is traditionally offered in the classroom.
Bournemouth born, Lucy Billington founded Inspiring Kids in Bath, following her 17 years of classroom teaching experience and her previous career in law. Now she is bringing a second branch to her much-loved home town.
Lucy explains the rationale behind Inspiring Kids: “The link between a student’s self-belief and achieving his or her highest potential is critical. Some children, especially those struggling with any form of special need, lose so much self-esteem that they cannot access the learning unless they are first helped in this area. Sometimes, a sensitive tutor with the skills to make a lesson reach a child is enough. However, at other times more specialist help is needed.
This is why, as well as tutors, Inspiring Kids works with many different types of therapists and mentors to provide a holistic approach to nurturing and empowering the whole child.”
As such, Inspiring Kids is more than a tutoring agency but operates as a hub, through which Lucy can discuss a client’s concerns and find out about their child. From there, she can then advise on the best course of action and make the best match possible.
Lucy is looking for Bournemouth-based freelance teachers of all specialisms, mentors and therapists to join her team.
