Non-essential shops to re-open at Poole’s Dolphin Shopping Centre from 15th June
Which shops will re-open and how will it work? Find out here.
Poole’s Dolphin Shopping Centre is preparing to reopen non-essential shops, from 15th June 2020, in light of the latest government advice for the retail sector. Read here.
Shops that are considered essential, are currently open at the centre, with dedicated times for the elderly and vulnerable, as well as NHS staff and keyworkers. More details at the end of this blog.
However, as more shops prepare to open to the public, new measures will be put in place to ensure the safety of shoppers and staff members. Here’s a quick summary of what you can expect.
The layout of the centre has been reviewed to ensure that all walkways allow a two-meter distance between shoppers
There will be designated entrances and exits, and you may need to queue outside the centre before you are allowed in
There will be a clearly marked one-way shopping system in place
Shoppes will be asked to prioritise their shopping and shop alone -or in small groups- when possible
The centre will work on reduced capacity, and temporary commercial units have been removed to increase the space available
Staff members have been trained to support social distancing and will have access to PPE
An additional budget has been allocated to cleaning resources, including a Clorox machine and hand sanitisers around the centre, as well as extra cleaning procedures
All public toilets remain open, including the disabled toilets and baby changing facilities
John Grinnell, Centre Manager at the Dolphin Shopping Centre, commented: “The safety of our shoppers and staff is paramount and our centre team has worked tirelessly to support our essential retailers that have remained open during the lockdown.
Now as we enter the reopening phase of non-essential retail, we are working in partnership with all our retailers, using Government guidance, to help them comply with our safety standards to provide a safe shopping experience for all customers. This is in addition to the measures that we are implementing at the centre. We have also taken practical advice from the British Retail Consortium and will continue to monitor and review the new systems in place and make adjustments as necessary. We urge shoppers to prioritise shopping safely and where possible, visit alone or in small groups if essential”.
