How to feel comfy and still look stylish. We asked the expert.
Alison from Sugar Mango, Southbourne
England has been given a glimpse of hope by the PM after he announced a gradual plan to ease the current lockdown restrictions. According to his plan, all children will return to school on 8th March, and the rest of the economy could start to re-open from mid-April.
I welcomed the news with joy but also panic at the thought of being in public again after months of wearing PJ’s all day long – and occasionally joggers when I’m feeling fancy. If like me, you need to get back your fashion mojo, this is the blog for you.
I’ve partnered with an expert in the matter to talk about all things fashion. I’ve never believed there’s such a thing as ‘mum fashion’ because style choices are a very personal matter and, in my case, I have a different favourite look almost every week. Sometimes I live in yoga leggings, t-shirts and zero makeup, while other times, I’m the mum at the school gate picking up her kids in a faux fur coat, teal ankle boots and bright lipstick. Because why not?
But you will certainly find here ideas to make any busy mum’s life easier. A great cross between stylish and comfy. Pieces that you can wear at home but also to lunch with friends or even work. What better way to sustainable fashion than buying fewer, good quality items that you can wear on multiple occasions?
Sugar Mango is an independent women’s fashion, lifestyle and jewellery boutique that has been in Southbourne for over 12 years. If you haven’t been there before, you definitely want to pop in to have a look when non-essentials shops are allowed to re-open. There are so many unique and gorgeous pieces to get your hands on. But they also sell through their website and offer a ‘click and collect’ service.
I hope you feel inspired to treat yourself this Mother’s Day to something that makes you feel fantastic. You deserve it after months of parenting during a pandemic. Maybe you can mark new beginnings with a fresh, trendy and vibrant look. Something to help you feel good.
Here are 5 outfit ideas with some of the new pieces you can find at Sugar Mango, and how to style them. By Alison, at Sugar Mango.

Black Colour Tanne Cardigan. £65 – layer over this gorgeous cardigan for some extra snuggly style, add some great accessories and you’re good to go.
Mum Style 2: Styling up the classic sweatshirt and jeans is really easy, Breton stripes always look chic and to elevate this look even further wear a classic trench coat and sneakers, you’ll look like you stepped out of the Metro heading for Paris fashion week.
Mum Style 3: I really love this look, it’s easy to throw on in the morning and you’re set for whatever the day may bring especially if you’re mixing school runs and meetings up, or managing to squeeze in a cheeky coffee with a friend.
Pieces Shirt Dress £30 – Super cute, stylish and easy to wear just layer over jeans or leggings or go bare-legged, whatever you choose you’ll feel really feminine in this piece. I love bold stripes and patterns mixed together, just make sure the main colour is carried through as with the coral in this cardigan from Pieces £35. Style it with this Black Colour Elvira crossbody bag and add a little shimmer around the neckline with a gold necklace £44.99, sneakers, boots or sandals, whatever suits your day.
Mum Style 4: Street style and comfort are always going to be a favourite. I love to keep it colourful and neon brights look great against navy, it’s classic and suits everyone.
